I have a 7" BGK and I was wondering what type of hidding places everyone has for their knifefish.

I have pieces of slate leaned up against the glass, which my BGK seems to like. Untill I put in a new larger piece in, now he won't use that. That leaves me looking for other things for my growing fish.

So, what do you use?
List your fish type and size if possible...

My BGk is already around 9 to 10 inches, he has some driftwood, and pieces of slate that I siliconed and turned it into a cave.

I found 'floating logs' intended for a hiding place for fry/etc.
They are manmade (plastic) look like a hollow log with lots of knot holes for extra doorways.

Since the floating part did not really work for my BGK - I used fishing line to tie it to some larger rocks. Works like a charm and my BGK loves it. Infact he outgrew the first one and I ended up getting a bigger version for him. He still tries to fit into the smaller one.. but it is getting to be a tighter fit each day. He is almost 11 inches now.

My 9'' BGK loves this plastic cave from Petsmart:

I also have flower pots in there:

My BGK is over 7 inches, not quite 8. I have 2 large pieces of slate stacked like a lean-to. One is buried partway in the gravel so it sits "up and down" and the other is stacked on top, flat side up. A few smaller slate pieces make kind of an overhang, and the entire thing is supported in the middle by a rock. The gravel is dug out underneath, and BGK can enter from 3 sides. I can see into the area from 2 sides (can't get to the back). If I were at home I would try to take a better picture of the whole thing, but here is one picture I have saved that shows it a little, sorry the pic is not good - of the slate pieces or of the BGK. This is one half, the entire thing is about 24" long - this is the "roof" so to speak, and the "awning".

(BTW, I hate my red gravel and background, but I had to decorate my tank with my 8 year-old and I lost a few battles along the way.)
