I was thinking about this a couple days ago. I started out in the hobby with African Cichlids many years ago but since then my tastes have changed alot. I still like Aficans and have a colony of Moori in a 120 gallon show tank but if i had to pick just one group of fish to define where I am in the hobby right now I would have to say Angels. About 5 years ago I never would have thought Angelfish would be my favorite fish but I guess we all change in one way or another. So if you had to pick just one group of cichlids that best define where you are in the hobby right now which group would it be?

For me, it's about vieja. I have two 125 gallon tanks full of 'em, with bocourti and pearsi tossed in for good measure!

I stopped keeping cichlids almost 3 years ago, but tempted to setup a small tank for some acaras and geos
I am boring. I have a 140 gallon with an Oscar and severum.

I have been keeping CA cichlids for close to 20 years now. The only SA cichlid I had was an oscar. Right now its hard to say what my favorite cichlid is. It would be my a. robertsoni, rostratus, p. synspilum, and p. loisellie.

so few people properly care for them..the males turn out to be true stunners when they are full grown..like mini glass banger..love my large male and all his trailers..and my rescued tailless female.
