What cichlid best defines where you are in the hobby now?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would say everything on my end. If it looks good and catches my eye, I want it.

But what I am really concentrating on lately is trying to spawn the not so easy to spawn cichlids. Beani, Argentea, Regani, Ornatum, Atro, I also recently fell in love with the exotic Plecos, and the Polypturus. I know neither are Cichlids but definitely some of my favs. But I cant leave out my Amphs either, my Hoga's, Red Isletas, Lyonsi, RD, TriMac. Also have to give love to my 20" Dovii and his female. Oh and my Vieja and Paratheraps, (or whatever they are called now).

See, like I said, LOL I think, everything.

wild scalare angelfish: Peruvian Altums and Manacapuru's...

Crenicichla Regani and Compressiceps

I would say my 10 synspila that are 3 inches or so now from 1" fry. I wanted them for a long time and couldnt find em locally! Then I stumbled upon a pair of dovii! Most people like the males, but I think the females are amazing!

I'm all over the map. Parachromis is my current CE fascination, but my office is full of Mbuna and the garage is getting setup for my hand at breeding angelfish. So, cichlids......yes!! lol allof the above

I have keeping cichlids almost 20 years.... been mostly Amphilophus since about 1999...have recently in the last few months come back to parachromis and have been focused on a managuense i have...But clearly there will always be more cichlids that i like/want than i have tanks to put them in...

I almost forgot my pride and joy! He is a hybrid, but definately a cichlid! Meet my Red Texas!

15" I call him the sheriff because he stops any fights and aggression in the tank! Swims over between the other fish and they just stop!
