i really cant make my mind up which cichlid i want to try and breed
the 4 ive got down to are oscars , jags, jd`s, gt`s

ive kept large oscars in the past and loved owning them i found they had great charcters and id love to breed them if it wasnt that i had to wait for a year before they paired up ,i would buy a pair but i find growing a baby to an adult very rewarding so id like to buy 4-6 and let them pair up naturally
jags i think look like great cichlids i dont know if they have as big a character than oscars but im very curious to know ,they allso pair up alot sooner which is nice to have a breeding pair that i can work with and they get very large which is great
jack dempsey i find very nice cichlids my mate has an adult male which is stunning plus they can be quite prolific once they get going
gt`s i think is the most stunning cichlid out there especially males they allso pair up quite young but the male can turn on the female unexpectedlly and kill her which then ill be left with just a single male which could be a nightmare to find a mate

im sorry for the long thread but i was hopeing someone could help me with my decision

thanks
martin

Jags are just as personable as Os. I love them. Growing some out myself right now.

platys have unbelievable personalities! jk go with jags that are sweet.

What are you planning to do with the fry? Are any of those harder to get over there than the others? Over here it's about equal as far as rarity...I would probably do jags or GT as I've bred JDs before and a breeding pair of O's = a lot of tank space used (I guess that's true of jags as well).

Go with jd's so much color in them.

I would go with Jags or JD's too man. They are both very easy to breed and will be into it in no time for you. Both have great personality's just like the Oscar does. GT's just suck hahah naw but they are a pain:D

ive kept oscars in the past and the personality was one of the main things about the others that i was concerned about i really would like one with a charcter the same or more than a oscar so im glad to here that jags and jd`s have plenty too

the main reason of breeding is for the experience im not looking to make any money for it but if i do its a bonus,i have plenty of fish shops around me that would take them in
