What cichlid would work?

So I recently vacated my 45 gallon tank (36"x13"x21") that was my growout tank fit my African cichlids. MY question is what central/south american cichlid would work in there, or is it possible to put a lone cichlid in there.

how about a 45 planted with some cockatoo cichlids and some ram cichlids and a school of small tetras.
