I am going into college next year and I want to do something that has to do with the environment (preferably something with aquatic wildlife)

What are my options? I know there are some people on here with degrees in ecological stuff so help me out!!

Thanks.

theres actually NOTHING aquatic related unless ur school offers marine biology.. very few do.. Research your college and see if they offer anything marine biology related..

I can tell you that ur looking at graduate level work, if u want to spend time with aquatic life.... Try zoology, marine biologist, oceanography... I was very much into that.. until i changed major from a Bio major to a Criminology major.. Bio is actually pretty tough...

Good luck!

well the first year or two you are gonna have to take general education classes that are a waste of your time....so you will have plenty of time to figure out what to take.
i hate gen eds

i was thinking the same way when i was starting college. i've taken a bunch of science classes including marine biology and oceanography. they were definitely fun, but make sure you take courses you actually need instead a taking extra time for fun classes. very few schools have undergrad programs for aquatic bio, so look into majors previously stated as well as environmental science. you could always go to grad school for aquatic bio.

There are lots of schools that offer aquatic related fields. Aquatic does not mean marine.

I am almost done with my degree in Fisheries Managment.
Some of the courses I had off the top of my head are: Fish Ecology, Life history of fishes, Ichthyology, aquatic insects, Hydrology, Limnology, Water Chem, Population Dynamics, Soils classes, Aquatic systems evaluation and sampling, Fisheries Managment techniques, water shed managment.

These are in addition to your general chem, bio, ecology, calc, and stats classes.

And yes you will be going to grad school.
