What Color Substrate for Geo tank?

I have some new tiny Geo's growing out, they were listed as 'Geophagus' pellegrini.

I'm in the process of setting up a 6 foot 120g for them.

I'm thinking about going with the 3m colorquartz S grade sand. What color do you guy's feel would make them look the best?

Basically it's going to be sand, a bunch of drift wood, few rocks and a couple plants.

Black, Tan, Brown, White or a mix?

the color will be up to you but as long as u have driftwood/rocks and plants as uve stated should be fine since you are putting sand not gravel. im pretty sure the color should not make a difference to the Geos. but id go with mix since u put that up -- show pics after its complete ;D

I have mine on black in a few tanks and white in a few tanks. Personally I like the white better, cause their colors seem to be brighter.;)

well the 3M colorquartz might be out now, all the suppliers listed on the 3M site don't answer their phones, guess there a seasonal business?

I really hate my tan pool filer sand, just looks bad in my opinion, and tihatian moon is out because it's too sharp.

Any other suggestions?

There's a gravel/rock company (industrial company) that produces all kinds of grades of aggregates. The Baltimore Aquarium (Gerogia too I think) uses one of their sands, and it looks AWESOME.

Google Red Flint...... I think that's the name.

Ive had mine on black and now they are on white and they look better on the white and they never stop sifting it!
But at the end of the day its your tank so go for whatever you like

Cheers steve

You can get black sand off ebay fairly cheap. Cheaper than tahitian moon sand, anyway.
