What continent do Bichirs come from?

Are Bichirs from Central/South America or from Africa? Does it vary per species like endli's, del's, and senegals, etc.....

Thank you! I did search that up but I wasn't sure because I have heard some say they were from the Americas. I may try and put a del and a Senegal with a group of paratilapia and call it an African tank.
