hey so i have an empty 20 tall. and i am building a rack system to hold all my tanks and really want to include it. but what could i put in it? i was hoping for some sort of rainforest critter. but its only heat will be from the two 4 foot strip lights im using to light that shelf since the other tanks have uth pads or need no heat( my leo gecko is the pad, no heat is the uroctonus mordax scorps) so is there any cool lookin critters from the rainforest that could fit in that tank, and like temps of 70-78 degrees F? i have heard rhacodactylus sp. like it colder than most lizards but what species is that true for and would they even fit in the tank, its like 2 feet tall, 20 inches long and 12 inches wide. also preferably species that can eat roaches( i have a colony of dubia's now) or fruit. thnx

There is a wide variety of frogs that would do really well in a 70~78*F 20 gal with a rainforest theme... Some of the larger species could do well as adults on roaches, though many species require smaller food items.

ya was way busy for a while. finishing my room. my dad busted himself up good. so i had to help out a ton finishing the basement. i thought treefrogs needed higher temps? at night it will get about 60 degrees maybe down to 55 in the winter, last night it was 58. wouldnt that kill a frog? im only allowed to put something in the tank if it can survive with only a uvb plant strip light for 12 hours of the day. also im gonna have lots of live plants and mosses in the tank along with corkbark background and tubes. thnx

I think crested geckos would work well for you. I believe they like temps in the 70's and one would do well in your size enclosure. I am not sure about those night time temps though. But crested geckos do have a very unique personality that I doubt you would get from tree frogs. They also would love a diet fruit and roaches but I believe you would still need to feed CGD. Cresties have to be the easiest thing in the world to feed. I have never kept them but I have done quite a bit of reading on them over the years and I have heard nothing but good things about them.

well cresties are the only thing getting multiple votes. so if i ever get around to setting up the tank will all my spare stuff if will be buying a crested gecko thnx guys
