They can be found in Lake Malawi (only non-mouthbrooding cichid there!) as well as Lake Tang. Omnivores, substrate brooders, not picky about params as long as water's clean. They grow 10-13" average I've read but max sizes I've read state 16-18". I s'pose he'll be needin a roomy tank.
