well my one remaining angelfish died tonight at quarter sized, earlier today it was eating and no longer had the grey webbing on it, this was the third day treating with maracyn two and fourth day treating with maracyn tank peramiters are still at amoonia o nitrite 0 and nitrate around 25 ppm there is a filter that over flows into the tank, and an airpump powering an airstone.

the remaining fish in the tank are four cherry barbs and 12 ,1/2 inch or smaller gambusia and two spotted rapheals.

There were originally four angelfish purchased from the local fish store and since then they have all died in three weeks, second week of having them they died off , the first two died without me seeing, the third was floating upside down still breathing then when died go sucked onto the powerhead intake. the last died in the middle of maracyn treatment, foun it stuck to the powerhead intake.

the third to die hid in a corner of the tank twodays before dieing not eating, the other three ate and swam normally before finding them dead.

the only signs of diesease was a grey substance, the fish looked like they swam into a cobweb. the grey stuff only covered their bodies it didn't go near their head, fins weren't clamped except on the first to die, color never faded either, eyes remained clear.

what killed my little darlings ? :(:confused::confused::confused::cry::cry::cry::help2::help2::1zhelp:

what should i do now ?

keep dosing?

Separate them to another tank if you have one.. Firstly, I would not mix any barb with angelfish... They are much faster than the angelfish and this might cause problems during feeding time. And secondly, small angelfish can't tolerate high water currents. The powerhead might be too powerful for them.

The powerhead doesn't blow the water around in my tank it sucks up water for the filter, it is only a problem for them after they died, i no longer have the angels they have all died like i said, the barbs and angelfish, when the angelfish where alive didn't out compete each other for food.

cherry barbs minded thier own buisness and don't nip.

the water current is only strong in a small area of the tank, that the angels swam around when they were alive.

the angels did get beaten up a bit by a betta, forgot he was in the tank hides alot, but once i saw the betta the betta was removed from the tank. Could that have been it, internal and external damage from the betta and the damage done just took a while to catch up with the angels?

Personally, I don't know... It might have been a little of everything that caused the angelfish to die..
But I remember that one breeder said he always had sponge filter with his angelfish..
If you're planning to breed them, keep them in a separate tank, next time you get some anglesfish.
