what counts as a post?

i know you need 5 posts to reach member status, but what counts as a post and what doesnt?

i apparently have 5 posts but still cant use pms or anything like that
why is this?

One has to have more than five posts to be able to get full member status and PM another member. Not all of your posts count toward your post count, however. Some sections that aren't directly related to the hobby don't count toward your post count.
