Some Red texas or super red.... from Thailand have huge pearls, obviously, those did not come from carpintis, so how did they create those nice looking red texas?

My guess is that they first bred carpintis with a titanium cichlid, then cross with a super red texas/ high quality parrot. Any other guesses?

I think it is a carpintis variant, but I think may be Escondido Texas possiblly. I would love to try that with mine some day, but I don't want to screw a good thing up with my two. But I want to get male escondido and breed with one of my female fry in the future. You can never have too many pairs of SRT/Carpinitis Pairs!!!!

my opinion is just like Cjbarth, escondido carpintis, they have large pearls, here is a picture for reference:

escondido carpintis is where the pearls come from, look at the picture. That is how they are. They are not true Texas, that is where the confusion is.

yes, in those pics, some of the pearls are round and some of the pearls are wormlike. Some would suggest that means their two different types of Male Carpintis being bread to a female SRT.

Some breeders use different variants of carpintis to produce different types of pearl. My carpintis male has round pearls and is probably a chariel bucket strain of carpintis and most of my fry will have round pearls. If I were to breed my female SRT with that beautiful Rapps specimen in the picture above(I wish I had one!!!)) , my red texas fry would most likely have the wormlike pearls . Some people refer to this type of SRT "King of Pearl".

It its a matter of preference of the breeder. Hope this info is correct, i think.

Here is my male carpintis for reference.... he and his SRT Female mate are both from Pat, Rainybetta in Thailand.

hey is the Chariel bucket stain a natural strain? i love bucket strains.

.....andf my female SRT has both patterns of pearl, which makes me believe that she was selectively bread. If she shows both types, there may have been both types of carpinits introduced in here genetic line to produce the pearls she has.

Here she is: sorry for pic quality, but i depicts the type of pearls she has.
