I realize this is "MonsterFishKeepers" but have been trying to ascertain if the "monster" is for the size of the fish or the passion for the hobby?

If it is the size of the fish (or accompanying tank), what are the parameters??

A "monster" can be defined by either large size (compared to the size of most others) or characteristics of a fish (the meaner, the better!).

I apply the term "Monster" for a number of reason. Among them are:

Monster price
Monster adult size
Monster aggression
Monster personality
Monster appetite

personally a "monster" is in the eye of the beholder. yeah my big fish are monsters, but i personally consider my 4" silver dollars monsters because they were my first fish and they will eat more aggresively than my rbp! it doesnt matter what anybody says, if its a monster to you thats all that matters! unless you come on here saying ur guppies are monsters! j/k:cool-1:

Benfica said it best and I follow his words for life, just check it out in my sig.

I think its the passion for the hobby. I have some fish that are far from a stereotypical "monster", but I like them as much as my fish that could swallow your hand.

Its the person keeping the fish that's the monster.

I think Tainted Glory summed it up well, but at the same time, a lot of you people make valid points, I guess that's why we have all self invited ourselves to take part in this crazy k000kie community, I don't think it matters what type of fish you have, what sized tank, what size food list you have to spend your money on each week to feel the little terrors, the tanks you have to set up to house the little monsters, the ends which you have to go to in order to keep the little tikes warm/cold, PH, Nitrates, ammonia levels right, the accessories and special need of the watery critters, if you want to class your guppy or fighter or sword tail as a monster, that is fine by anyone in this whole community! It's a weird group here, you all need help. Monster fish? HAH! no such thing.
