how can you tell lei aro from jardin aro? is there anyway to tell when they are small?

also which one is less aggressive that can be with oscars/b.parrots/c.loach/and tin foils..and also dat fish?

aggression depends on the fish itself and leis tend to be more silvery/light bluish color and slim with red spots but none on its gills and jardinis can range from yellow-bronze-brown when small and has red spots too but on the gill plates too, head shape of jar looks similar to asian aros as leis look little diff(thats how i tell the difference, its pretty obvious IMO)

S. Leichardti:
-Straight dorsal profile with head in line with back.
-No pattern on gill covers.
-Barbels point straight out.
-Number of small red spots on fins.
-Red spots in the center of each scale.
-Silver in color.

S. jardini:
-Slightly curved dorsal profile with head sloping down.
-Pattern on gill covers.
-Barbels point downward.
-2-3 large red spots on fins. Red crescents on each scale.
-Bronze in color.

yup the head is basically what gives it away.

i like the one that looks bronze like the asian aros. i probably will get a small one than the fish in have now, that way the fish get established before the jardin.

oh, also which one is more expensive? can that tell the difference?

leichardti command a higher price than jardini,i rarely see leichardtis imported and iv never seen them at LFS

The no pattern on the gill plate thing I'm not so sure about. My lei had no pattern for the past year and a half, but at around 17" or so it started to develope almost a reddish snake skin pattern on its gill plates.?.? Who knows.

And my lei is just as aggressive as any jar I've had/seen.
