Ok so I just finnished drip acclimating my Valentini for a hour, and he looked allittle extra stressed. So after I put him in the tank (mistake #1) I checked the salinity. My salinity is right above 1.023 and it is usually 1.024. So I was wondering when should I jump up the salinity? How should I jump up the salinity correctly? Water change or a half a cup of dissolved salt?

Ok he came out, looks like he got allittle puffed up and has some poo stuck to a spike :(. Will he be ok after getting not fully puffed but just alittle? I made sure at my lfs that they kept him on the water when they caught him, he hast left water stall actually when I have been around.

Pretty much this just boils down to, how do I bump my salinity up about .001 in a 29 gallon tank? The rest is just hyper ventilating lol.

.001 should not be enough extra stress to hurt a vallentini if he was properly acclimated otherwise, they're pretty tough fish id just sit back and let it relax

Why bother adjusting the salinity when it will go up in a few hours due to evaporation?

Just don't do as large of a top-off next time, and you should be good to go.

Or wait til the tank gets to 1.024 then top off with 1.024 water.

I don't suggest adding salt directly to the tank. Too many ways to screw up and add too much, especially when you're only trying to raise it a very small amount. One point low isn't exactly a big deal anyway. You'll cause more stress trying to mess with the water parameters by adding salt than just correcting it slowly through evap and top off.

Ok thanks, he looks like he is doing great this morning, gonna try some clams later today. Thanks!

Sorry for crappy pic. He is still scared if the big scary guy with the camera but he is eating clams (as you see in the pic). I am alittle worried about the 2 white spots on his head though. Not sure if it just his skin or something else. I will try for a better pic once I find the good camera. If I do end up treating him can I just use PraziPro? All that's in there with him right now is a clown, but I am planning on like a yasha or watchmen goby.
