Hi ALL!

I happen to be in my LFS today and picked up a baby african arowana.. its actually a bit smaller than i thought i'll be... it almost seems as if its yolk sac was gone just a few weeks ago.. its about 2.5" long... very small...

I've had bad luck with african arowana last yr and wanted to try it out agian..

What do you guys fed it who were successful enough in raising yours from baby to adult? I know that they are more filter feeders rather than traditional Arowana...

I have frozen blood worms available along with hikari blood worms.... I also am using Garlic guard to stimulate the African to start eating..

Any suggestions?

frozen blood worms 4 times a day worked well for me with such a tiny fish

Yeah, they are very delicate with a high metabolism untill they reach a few more inches. When mine grew bigger and got past the danger zone it learned to take sinking pellets from the bottom..You could try soaking pellets in a cup of tank water and once they are at the point of falling apart, gently pour it into the tank near the afrowana.

Frozen bloodworms are good.

When mine was small I crushed Hikari pellets into nearly dust and my African Aro loved swimming through the sinking cloud, sucking in particles.

hmmm
go with a bare bottom tank
a sponge filter

feed more than 2-3 times a day, blood worms, blackworms

might wanna clean the tank everyday, only to siphon the bottom

don't miss even a day's feeding, mine died when a missed for a day, atleast till the fella is 8"+
