ok i have a 4 foot by 2 foot by 2 foot tank for him. what else so i need before i get on like what kinds of lights? heat? hides? logs? food? im looking at getting a 5 inch baby or like a 10 incher

This is just a general example and it would be best to use google and find a good care sheet. You will need a hot spot of 100-110 degrees for basking. You can use a heat, lamp or some type of heat emitter. It should be around 88 degrees on the cool side. You will also need a UVB bulb that should stretch the length of the tank. The best bulb on the market is by zoomed and its called the reptisun. I use a 5.0 on my two baby tanks but a 10.0 would work better for your tank so the rays reach the bottom of the tank. As babies they eat mainly crickets or roaches, and they eat a lot. Somewhere around 2 dozen a day. They should also get fresh greens everyday too. As they get older they will eat more greens and less insects. Once again this is a basic general description to give you an idea, and you should source a good care sheet.

For a tank that size a P. henrylawsoni (a smaller species of bearded dragon) would be better

you think that cage size is too small for a beardie? I think you could keep a pair of normal ones in there no problem. It is plenty big

as far as requirements go you do not need to have a water dish in the enclosure as long as you soak them once or twice a week. You will also need a powerful UV bulb like A_A said as well as a heat lamp or heat pad (just do not use an in tank heat rock since they have been known to lead to blisters and electrocution.) I would recommend you use a calcium/ vitamin supplement on the crickets as well as the greens and offer many greens & vegetables and only use fruit as a treat or sparingly.

If the lizard is smaller he can have more space to roam, this is considered the minimum size for one bearded dragon or perhaps 2 females. However he could fit 1.2 of P. henrylawsoni in there wich is more interesting to watch
