I have been curious about this for awhile on what fish keepers or fish show judges look for in A show quality trimac? I have tried google it but havent had no luck. I would apreciate any feedback I can get.

Thanks

Who cares.. It is more important what you look for.

I agree that it's up to each fish keeper to like what they want to like about their fish. On the other hand wouldnt you want to know when choosing a fish whether its quality or crap? I already own A trimac and love his personality but if I was wanting to show it at a local fish show I wouldnt want to look like and idiot either.

Never really understood fish shows, but this is the perfect trimac FOR ME:

I have never tried doing a fish show before was more or less curious on some peoples thoughts on what qualities people looked for in trimacs. Oh yeah thats a beautiful trimac. Here is a video of my trimac I got from Jeff rapps a few months ago.

Don't be afraid to enter a fish in a fish show. You may win. If not, you can use it as a learning experience. Judges are usually very experiences fish hobbyists. When judging fish, judges compare the fish to the standard for that species. The judges look for size, color, finnage, condition and deportment plus a few other things. At most shows, you can ask the judge how your fish was scored.

On the loss of points area, genetic defects such as curved spines, fins with bent rays or paired fins that do not align, if colors are off compared to what a wild fish of that species should be. Signs of improper care such as overfeeding, under feeding, abuse by tank mates etc.
