What do synodontis eat?

Hi everyone!
I just wanted to know what synodontis eat. I have a about less than 3 inch synodontis and i dont know what to give it. I bought some shrimp pellets by wardley and it tries to eat it but then drops it. Same thing with my dempseys. They come along, chew on it, try to swallow, then they spit it back out. Im not sure what kind it is but i could post pics.

Also, is it true they eat poop? Because i did a w/c and there was no poop at all !!

They will eat live and frozen worms, Hikari Sinking Carnivore pellets, New Life Spectrum pellets, and just about ANYTHING else. The shrimp pellets may be to big or they've gone bad, I dunno, but my synos. love the Omega One shrimp pellets.
 
also love cichlid pellets and frozen silversides and algae pellets.. :)
 
I think ive found out what my syno is by pics.
I think it is synodontis schoutedeni
OKay then.

Also, what happens if you touch their barbels.
I was also told that they have a sharp spine? or something?

Do they eat veggies? Thanks.
 
I don't know what happens with the barbels but they start squeaking when they're out of water(i never tried it but that's where my name came from):headbang2
They eat many things so they probably eat veggies if they like them.
 
IME They eat all the above, and yes, they do eat veggies. Mine are especially fond of cucumber! :D (zucchini also works well)
 
they sqeak??! like a mouse?

Do they have a sharp backspine? Like i heard to be careful with nets because they can get stuck.
