Should work well. I'd put a bit more bio media in there if your stocking a lot of fish though. how do you start the siphon in the overflow box?

Could be not a problem, but it did look like your bottom container was really close to full.
I`m guessing you already tried some power off, return pump not running, testing.

Good point. make sure you have a towel handy during testing

thanks all and i have tested it and it almonst fills up with the power of but not quite i just gota make shaw when i do a wc i dont put to much in the tank keep it ruffly the same level

and justin i start the siphan by puting the hoses in a bucket and holding the ends then just putting both ending in the water in the box and letting go it preatty easy

I like the diy all the way through. I've tried running a drain spray bar before, I would suggest making lots of holes or cleaning it some what regularly. I would also keep an eye on the top compartment, when your filter pad clogs it will start to fill with water and would put an undesired stress on your lower container
