i recently adopted a p-bass that was raised on strictly goldfish and now im trying to get him on prepared while doing so im feeding him feeders fed with cyclopeze and curious as to what everyone else is using

i dont use feeder fish unless i rais ethem myself its a good way to infect your fish but i usually use colorbits to feed them or algae wafers try getting it to eat krill they work for my fish that usually only eat live foods

cyclopeyes a good choice though but i can imagine it will get expensive

earthworms are a good choice

You really can't "gut load" feeders like one might do with crickets. Take feeder goldfish as an example; they poop as fast as they eat  . The only thing one might be able to do is to keep them in a tank in ones home and feed them for a week or two before using them as feeders. By doing this you are pretty sure they won't intorduce any "bugs" and they'll at least have a few decent meals.

I would say gut-loading works fine.. Even though Goldfish pass waste fairly fast, atleast the nutrition is still inside them right after gut-loading, and the waste is being released. I would also reccomend cyclop-eeze, as it is very nutritional. I often gut-load guppies and ghost shrimp with it.. I will starve them for a week or so, then when I feed the tank, they usually will eat until near explosion..

Also, get some VitaChem, Zoe or mineral supplements.. get yourself a syringe.. You would be amazed at how 'plump' you can get a goldfish with liquid supplements before it explodes! Mmmm Pbass says "I like gushers!"

I just feed mine flakes, usually a few more times a day than normal.

I try not to feed feeder fish....
it's known in easy transfer of diseases to your pet....

if can it's advisable to use other type of food....

If i do feed feeders...i feed them for a few days with Omega One Super Color Flake, New Life Spectrum Sinkin Cichlid Pellets, and Spirulena discs...by the time they are ready to be fed they have a lotta the nutrients in them and are almost like feedin the food to the fish that is eatin them directly. Earthworms are great though. You can pump them with more stuff than a goldfish, and healthier...;)
