Got a baby jar from TFD on sale. I tried some krill, brine shrimp, flake and shrimp pieces. So far, he does not appear to be eating. I will buy some bloodworms or blackworms if I can find the latter. Another option will be baby crickets. No yolk sac and he is 2-3 inches. Thanks

Give him a few days...he probably needs to settle down after that rough ride from shipping. Heh..I was going to order a few from tfd, but haven't gotten around to it, and besides freaking weather in ny is not cooperating..going to be in the teens next week. :irked:

Try to stay away from guppies/feeders if you can..I know some will say its okay..but just the thought of feeding other fish that may carry any parasites/bacteria is pointless, yeah.."quarantine" the feeders for a few weeks is pointless also.

I fed the jar I got plankton and he went for it...but my big mistake was when he got better and bigger, I fed him meal worms, and that's all the lil bugger wants. Refuses FD krill, Hikari sticks, Frozen krill, chopped silverslides, hell even crickets he won't eat..just Meal Worms! :irked:

How long have you had him?

If it has only been a day or two, I would agree that the Jar is probably stressed out from the shipping and his new surroundings. The foods you are offering are good choices and I would avoid feeder fish as well. I would give crickets a try, my Jar has never refused crickets.

But if this has been going on for more than the above I would start to look at tank parameters and/or aggressive tank-mates.

You all were right. He started eating tonight. I got him frozen bloodworms and he filled his belly with them and was even eating them on the bottom. I also threw some crickets in there but he didn't go for them. I even had shipping problems here and had to wait an extra day because the Atlanta Airport cancelled flights.

Good to hear he's eating. In no time you'll have the jar fattened up! :grinno:

You seem to be on the right track. Just try to feed him as varied a diet as possible. I'd suggest trying to get him eating thawed prawn/shrimp meat. Mine loves it and it's a good staple food for him to bulk up on.
