I have a group of 5 RedHeads, and they are such picky eaters. I was feeding a combination of regular omni flakes and also spirulina flakes, and now, they eat like pigs but only eat the spirulina only after the rest has been completely devoured. They also get frozen bloodworms once a week.. I know they need a varied diet, what else can I feed them for the best health?

Also, not sure if it matters, but Im about 90% sure all five somehow ended up being male (Suck at sexing, but from what I could tell, they look male), could that be why they eat so much? Those five eat more than ALL the rest of my fish combined.

How big are they? I couldn't sex mine until they were almost breeding age. Even the head color is not very reliable because subordinate males will often not be as colorful as dominant males, and some females show more orange, etc.

I would cut out the bloodworms feedings for now if they're acting picky or spoiled. Get a good quality pellet because flakes don't amount to much with larger growing cichlids. I use Xtreme and New Life Spectrum. If they are small fish, get the 1mm pellets. Once they're grown you can go to 2mm pellets. Because of their sifting nature they seem to take smaller foods better. All of my Geos between 2 - 4" love the 1mm NLS cichlid pellets.

The smaller ones I would say are 2.5" or so and the three bigger are 3.5-4"... I just watched two of them lip locking for a bit, but they always seem to chase each other when they get inti each others territories.

I will look inti switching to the NLS, its hard to find around here but maybe I can order it. They always eat everything I feed, they just seem to prefer one before the other.

I feed NLS 2mm Thera +A. I started with .5mm monved to 1mm and now 2mm at about 5.5 inches.

NLS, they love Thera A the best.
hikari frozen bloodworms & spirulina gut-loaded brine shrimp. bloodworms dirty the water less.
some frozen krill, although it's not their fave. they eat it, just not as voraciously as other treats.

Managed to find NLS, holy expensive lol... The guy at my lfs also gave me this "Cichlid Attack" food to try. Anyone else use this? The fish seem to like it better than the NLS.

Found their web site and this is the info they provided............which is nothing. I would be skeptical about a manufacturer that provides no nutritional or ingreedient info on their web site. Maybe I missed somthing but I couldn't find it. IMO the extra money spent on the NLS is worth it. I have 6, here's a couple of pics raised from ~1.5" on NLS.
