yea ive heard that the perfect amount of ph leads to brighter colors but not sure how truthful that is...

i also keep mine at 86* and whatever ph my tap is with driftwood

85 degrees, PH is 6.5 to 7.0.

I keep at 6.4 pH and 81F. Mine is still a baby at 3 inches, but he's got some nice coloring already, and he's very happy (and aggressive).
