What do you guys feed your Paratheraps?

Just wanted to get an idea from people that have or had these fish. I have heard that these cichlids like a vegetation based diet. If so, what do you guys use? I have seen people use peas, cucumbers, and lettuce. I also ready that they cook their vegetables! those this make any sense?

I would like to keep my fish on a diet that they would find in the wild. However, being tank raised might not call for that.

Any thoughts?

Any pellet type food. NLS, Hikari, Xtreme, Omega 1. I feed mine all types of pellets, freeze dried, frozen and home made. They are omnivore plant and meat.

Whatever you feed, make sure its got a quality protein source and some "green" in it. Most pellets on the market will give you decent results, as will supplementing with fresh or frozen foods. Water quality is very important. Lots of good threads around arguing the "best" diet for your fish, ultimately it's just a personal decision and to do what you feel works for you.

Hell yeah he was lol. Kind of a long story on him but I healed him up. His sunken belly is completely gone now, more so than that second pic I posted. Thanks BTW!

I have a syn and a zonatus that eat nls, omega one, and hikari excel. They also like lots of clean water like clockwork said
