I need your guys opinion...

I plan on using my 700 gal tank as a grow out tank. Anyways the plan is this. I plan on getting
juvenile fish all 1-2 inchs in size. and 4 of each just to grow out.

I plan on getting
dovi, umbee, beanies, black nasty , festae , trimac and I havent decided if I wanted a istalum , jag , freddie or a ,motaguense just to grow them out in. What should I feed them? since the nasties and beanies need low protein diets. I do plan on seperateing the fish as they get larger if they get to aggressive. Or is it to much stress for the nasties and beanies to grow up in a tank this large?

With in 6 months the Doviis will own the tank and all the other fish will be systematically eliminated. Either use the tank for Doviis or don't added them to the mix...

even with a 700 gallon tank? I plan on only keeping 1 out of the 4. im just 4 getting 4 of each and keep the best looking ones.

Even in a 1,000 gallon tank. Doviis will not play well with others. Especially once they spawn..... If you make sure that the Doviis you add are the smallest fish in the tank it will slow down the process but not stop it.

I disagree, given adaquate space and hiding spots I feel you can get away with this. I've had Dovii's on multiple occasions in tanks much smaller then 700 gallons and had them live in harmony with tank mates. Now remember each individual fish has his/her own personality. I also would not be so much concerned with diet just provide a high quality balanced diet, keep temp. in the 80-82 degree area, and keep excellent water quality filtration should be a priority. Keep a watchful eye out and respond to trouble makers appropriately. If this is your grow out tank whats will their perm tank be?

Well i plan on growing out 4 of each
Dovii, Beanie, Black Nasty, Umbee, trimac and red terrors. All of which will be 2 inches in length at the very biggest. as they start getting more agressive towards eachother i plan on only keeping the best looking out of the 4 of each. I am hopeing the 700 gallon they will live in harmony with hideing spots and other stuff blocking line of sight, this tank is massive, so Im hopeing they can get along if not, i have two 100 gallons collecting dust in my shed.

Anyhow I read alot about nasties and beanies needing low protein veggie diets in order to keep them alive from bloat. How am I going to do this what there are other juvenile fish in the tank that like there meat?

Id be willing to bet they werent mature adults that were doing so. A 4" fish doesnt hold any water in discussions about tank mates or compatibility for life.

Care to post pics of your dovii living in perfect harmony with others?

A simple search through the hundreds (if not thousands) of dovii posts on MFK shows there are basically less than 5 dovii over 12" living with tank mates, even females of their own species. Full grown Dovii with tank mates of different species just rarely happen in something less than 1000 gallons.

And to the OP...of your list (4 of each Dovii, Beanie, Black Nasty, Umbee, trimac and red terrors), I predict you will end up with several dovii, trimacs and maybe festae when its all said and done. The stress of other aggressive fish alone will probably kill the beani & haitiensis & possibly the umbee...and if the stress doesnt get em, the dovii or trimacs will.

thats what i was orginally asking, im having such a hard time picking what type of fish i want. I wish i could just have them all. So nasties and beanies wouldnt survive? everyone talks about how badass umbees, beanies and nasties are, couldnt them fend off the doviis?

Nasties, Umbies & Beanies are delacate when young. Thay stress easly and are subject to bloat. At 2" Trimacs, Faesties and Dovii are too aggressive for them if they don't kill them out right they'll most likly die from stress.
We're talking about 2" not at full grown.
