So I found this on CraigsList. http://cnj.craigslist.org/for/3188797361.html Obviously it is a lot of work, clearly needs to be resealed along with other things to ensure that it will hold water, but I feel like if I can bring him down a little bit it should be a good deal. A little background about me as I am new to the community as a poster although I have lurked this forum for the past two years. I currently have two 55 gallon tanks, although over the years I have had my fair share of tanks, but nothing of this size. I am looking to put this tank into my basement. So I was thinking since it does need to be resealed it would be easiest to take it apart and reassemble in the basement. another side note is I have never resealed a tank but I am very good with my hands and work construction and feel I should be able to accomplish this task with the help of this community and some quality research.

If you are essentially looking to rebuild it and it's your first time re-sealing a tank, I wouldn't think that size or shape is the best tank to "cut your teeth on." Three hundred gallons is a lot of water and can do a lot of damage. But if you are confident, I think that's a sweet deal, mostly because of the two eheim 2262 filters he's throwing in.

Figure $300 for the 2262 is a great deal. I would also figure that the deeper you get into the aquarium build the more troublesome the rebuild will be. I think you would be much better off starting with new cut sheets of glass. I would not expect the frame of the aquarium to be worth using. I would expect to have to some how make a new frame for the aquarium. I would guess that the seller had the idea of just resealing what was there and using the aquarium as it. I would guess that that did not work out for him!

i would take that. Resealing it is not too hard depending on how bad it is.

You can cut the existing silicone from the inside out and just reseal over that, lay some glass cuts on the base to cover it and youll be fine. If it is your first time I would use a stronger silicone just as back up, I used a black pond silicone from england and this stuff is like cement when it drys made resealing a 600 bow front tank easy.

too replace the brace u just need fishing wire heat it up but dont burn it, slide it under like a grot around someones neck and swing it side to side. much safer then pulling them off.

then you should be good to go ;D (just realized how bad my example of a grot sounds lol....)
