Hey guys,
I just acquired another 75 gallon tank :headbang2and I'm just looking to set up a tank with a few medium sized centrals in it that have a fair shot of cohabitating relatively nicely. Not concerned with breeding or anything like that for this tank…i already have more baby africans from my 125 than i know what to do with! I just picked up a 3.5" male salvini that i put into my 40 gal grow out while the new 75 cycles. Anyway, for the 75 i was thinking of having the male Salvini, a female Jack, Male firemouth & a Convict or Sajica something like that. I looove my driftwood so there will be plenty of hides and territories but down the road what do you guys think about this stock? Aggression-wise, I'm thinking the Sal is the one id have to make sure behaves himself…Any thoughts or suggestions? The Salvini is deff part of the stock since i already have him and they are just one of my absolute favorites.
Thanks!

i worried that, as much as i like them, if they get into some dispute with another fish and their gill flaring doesn't do the job, they don't have much else lol. As far as the others though, aggression levels are matched pretty evenly huh? what about an acara something like that

Acaras are awesome, mine used to police the tank; keeping the convict and JD in place, without harassing them.

I don't think the salvini and the meeki would be a good mix in the long run. Salvini are pretty mean for their size, and a 75 wouldn't give the meeki much room to hide. I'd pick one or the other.

i love good ole tinfoils, i used to have a small group in my 125, thy got BIG. Im not sure a 75 would be enough space for tinfoils in the long run, i remember them being big messy fish like an oscar…except unlike an oscar, tins are super fast on top of being huge messy guys so they need lots of space, id feel bad having close to foot long tinfoils in a 4'

The sal could be a problem. I wouldnt put sajica in with jd or sal long term. Lookinto cryptoheros. Honduran red points arent as bad as reg cons and imo way better looking. Nanolutes, sajica, panamensis are nice. Wetspot and tangledupincichlids have a bunch on their stock list

I look at Barbs of any kind as just background fish in my Cichlid tanks. I hate to sound like a punk, but I have quite a few fish stores near me if any " back rounders " as I call them get to large or become a problem I usually sell or trade them off pretty quickly.
