what do you guys think of a fluval 404

i was wondering what you guys think of a fluval 404? i like the filter and im considering buying one but how reliable are they and how well do they work?

I have used several 304 and own a 405 currently. The impellar well cover can break but its not a huge deal to have a 5 dollar part on hand. I love mine. No tap valves! easy disconnect lots of flow plenty of media capacity. Definitely worth the money. Also silent and circulates about 225 gph with media.

ok sweet, because i have heard of a few problems but nothing big. whats the difference between the 404 and 405?

i liked the two that i had got um off ebay new in the box shipped for 90 bucks, i found them a hassle to clean tho as are all canisters

ya true. but this is just extra filtration.

thenit should be excelent i still have one im contimplating hooking back up. for the price there reliable, well built and efficent.

I have a 304 on one of my tanks now. I think it's an excellent filter, and is basically just a smaller version of the 404. If you can get a deal on one, then go for it for sure. The 405 is simply a newer version. I think it just flows a little more water but other than that its relatively the same.

I'm running 5 Fluval's, from a 104 to the FX5 and have no complaints.

i have an fx5 and a 405. i like 'em both and they perform well. i'm not sure about the 404.

sorry for the late reply, but thanks for all the input. i am working on getting one right now. i have never owned a canister filter, only sumps and back pack filter. but i do like all to media you can put in the trays, gives me a lot of options.
