Right my mum has finally snaped and laid down the law so the biggest tank i can get is this:

Stocking would be:

1 Silver,
1 Black,
1 RTG,
1 African,
1 SP gar,
2 Endi,
2 ornates
2 Lap,
2 Palmas,
1 SAL.

i would ideally like to add:
RTG, Green Aro, G2 Red Aro, Cuban GAR, Tropical Gar , Fl Gar.

So yeah, what you guys think????

i think the tank is too skinny one one side, could you go 3' wide or atleast 30" on the smaller side? and yuor stocklist will make your tank extremely cramped.

that is one odd tank it might be cramped but i would just like to see this odd thing up and running

if i went 6'9" along the back then i could probably blag her to allow me to go 30-36" along the small side, but not at 7'. stocking wise, do you mean it will be cramped with my current fish? or with the desired list? i dont intend on getting every thing on the list, just what id like.... i also dont see the tank as a permanent home, but probably need to last a year or two as i will no doubt move and upgrade space permitting.

go 6'9" and gain the added width. 3" of length wonk make any real difference if your adding 6-12" in width. if this tank isnt a permanent home go wild on stocking it, you know what your doin.

ok thank you. she seems to be ok with that idea, i just had a quick word... so i guess ill amend diagram before i send it off for quote in the morning.

i was thinking bout your dimensions and how you said you were going to move. you might want to go with a regular rectangular shape, say 7'x3' because when you move you might not be able to find a suitable place to set up an odd shaped tank. that and odd shapes cost ALOT more money than standard shaped tanks. i have seen tanks shaped the way you want and i have to say they look quite odd/ugly. just a thought.:)

i think it will be difficult to get good silicon joins with a tank design like this since the edges of the glass panels will butt together at odd angles instead of being lined up perpendicular to each other. just a thought..

why the irregular shape? it'll only lead to more $$ and complications/headaches. my advice is to save the money and spend it on fish. :)
