What do you guys think

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I like a backdrop myself. I prefer not to see through the back of the tank. For cichlids I also like to have something to go through and / or behind as any aggression is often diffused once one loses line of sight on the other.

Bonus points for thinking outside the box though for sure.

There’s is a black backing on it. I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. It looked better in my head lol So far the fish seem to really like it, so I’ll give it little bit but I may go back to my usual scape for this tank

I think the concept is fine. The peacocks and Haps are more open water swimmers anyway so that should appreciate the open space. The few mbuna may want more rock work to swim in and out of but still should be fine.
my only real concern would be scratching the glass if the rocks are piled against the actual side. I would make sure that the stack is secure. Wouldn’t want it to topple.

I think there are a few guys in there that would like more caves and rockwork to breed/ multiply but other than that, go with it

Nice fish, clean tank.

I always use sight breaks (wall of fake plants, or a tall rock, etc) in aggressive tanks, but if what you're doing works then great. As far as caves, I suppose the fish you have all prefer cruising the tank rather than in the rocks like mbuna. Even the yellow labs I've had acted more like mild mannered peacocks IME, so looks good to me.

It’s an all male tank, so breeding shouldn’t be an issue lol

Idk man jurassic park debunked that long ago. Make sure there's no frog DNA floating around in there or life might find a way lol.

I like the heavy-on-one-end scaping. I think it's more natural in a way and makes for a more dynamic environment for the fish since you have both more tight confined spaces in the rocks and a big open sandy area as well.

I was thinking about JP as I was typing that lol

I’m not digging this scape from an aesthetic point, but the fish seem to like it and are behaving more naturally rather than just swimming back and forth , so I’m gonna leave it for bit and see how it goes
