What do you guys use to cut through thin acrylic?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You should be able to score the acrylic using a utility knife then just break it on a flat edge like your kitchen counter. Make sure to go over the cut about 7-8 times before you break it, a new blade/knife would be good to pick up while at home depot too.

This goes without saying, but don't cut yourself... utility knives can open you up before you know what happen.

Good luck.

table saw with a sharp clean blade, you have to keep the acrylic moving though or heat generated from the blade will start to melt it

Yea Ill give this a try!

A note on Score & Snap, make sure the score line is straight. ;) Helps if you can get a straight edge or something to use as a guide. If your line curves even a little bit, that curve will still be there after you snap. At the price of acrylic from Home Depot, cutting mistakes can kill the bank account.

When I cut some acrylic for my sump, I used a jig saw with a guide, and polished the edges with a dremel. Worked fairly well.

i agree with score and snap that's how i did it and it worked fine. i smoothed it over with some sandpaper afterwards.
