I have a 240 acrylic with 3/4" plywood, 1/4" mdf, and 2 layers of felt under it to pad it. is this over kill or adequate? thoughts/questions/comments....

Won't the mdf crumble and swell when it gets wet?

I'd just go to home depot and buy a 8' X 4'sheet of 1/2" to 3/4" thick styrofoam for $15 and throw it on top of whatever my base is (usually plywood).

I recall that home depot has a type of styrofoam insulation material..... I'm sure they would be perfect for padding for a tank... and they wont be destroyed by water...

I've personally havent tried it myself.. Since i stay away from acrylic tanks... all my tanks are glass.... But these stryrofoam material would be perfect.. they probably would do well in insulating a tank during winter...
