OH...IO
My quest for a community monster continues and I'm now considering a pseudodoras niger cat. I'm looking for positives and negatives from those that have experience with them. 1. Would it get along with my clown loachs(hopefully not eat) and giraffe cat?
2. How active are these guys?
3. Overall opinions?

Thanks
KNH

These really are gentle giants so you shouldn't have any problems. Bow big are the clowns?? It'll be fine with the Giraffe who are much the same.

ahh, you make my info hookup sound junky

actually it describes temperment and ability to switch to live foods on there, did ya try checking out the forum search?
No offense intended. Have you owned one?

The clowns are ~4-5" and quite fat. I'm concerned that the p. niger will outgrow them in no time and look at them as food. My giraffe is fairly gentle but quite aggressive at feeding time. How active are p. niger? Some indicate that they tend to be lazy.
thanks

Sometimes the opinions of fellow fishkeepers is just as valuable.

A p. niger would never be able to eat a clownknife. Their mouths are like carp's. They prefer to eat pellets, worms, detritus, plant material, and even fruit. They are gentle giants and are non aggressive. The like to sift through sand and gravel for food. Be aware if you have a nice planted tank that they will uproot plants and other decor in your tank.
