Currently I have a 55 gal tank with a Female JD a Female Convict, and a Turqoise Severum, I am planning on selling the Severum. I also have an EBJD that I am growing out in a 32 gal. I hope to achieve a pair between the JD and EBJD sometime in the future in the 55. For this to happen the EBJD would have to be male (hopefully) and the Con would have to accept him/her into the tank when it is time. Can this work or will I also have to re-home the convict. Also If the two JDs turn out to be female and female would they live peacefully with each other and the convict, or again would I have to remove the convict. Any advice is appreciated.

Fish all have unique personalities, however using a law of average the convict will not tolerate the EBJD. This considers that the Convict is already living in the 55. Now if you take out the convict and put it in the 32, put the EBJD in the 55 and wait a week, then put the convict back in the 55 it might work. Sorry for being confusing :D

Yeah, the Con could throw a wrech in the works. Ideally if you are looking to breed the JD's then having them alone in the tank is best.

Not really looking to breed, just to have a pair and the natural behavior that comes with it. (spawning is too much hassle with little reward these days from what I understand).

Well, if they truly pair up, spawning is their intention even if it is not yours.

To that I say: Awesome.....
