Or was it ever there?

I was looking at my new li jar trying to figure out what was different about him. It's his tail. Part of it is missing. These aren't the greatest pics but you'll get the idea. What do you think? Will it grow back? is it gone forever?

From what i can tell in the pic it does not seem to be missing all the way down at the root of the tail but just at the end. if at all... if that is correct then it is just the fins that are missing and in that case they will definily grow back..did something nip at him..because keep an eye on what ever did this because they may continue to do it or worse.. adding salt would also have a ward off any other possible scale injuries.. but from what i can tell looks like it will be okay,oh i just read your note over..he was like this when you got him.. something could have nipped him before..

To me it dosn't look as if part of the tail is actully missing but rather that the tail was damaged at one time and grew back this way.

Thats what i think too..a little bent maybe but i really don't see any real damage.. not enough to worry about .. he looks good:D

Thanks guys. I am not really worried about it because I picked him out like that and didnt notice until I was vegging out staring at his tank today. He's alone right now so he was like that when I got him. He's a great looking fish with lots of personality. If it never grows back its fine, gives him character.

He is awesome.. nothing wrong with that boy!:D

Nice looking Jar.
I've been told mine has too large a lower jaw, but these differences ( like the tail) give them a unique look.
