I currently have a juvi Buttikoferi (a little under 2 inches) and I was wondering if it would be okay to get a juvi Polypterus as its tank mate. My butti is in a 44 gal. now? If it would be okay, then which one would you recommend? Thanks!

It a 44 hex... its only temporary... filtration will be a hot mag

Butti can get pretty territorial when they get bigger, but at that size you would be ok with a juvi senegal, delhezi, ornate ..exc as long as you plan on upgrading. I would go with the senegal if your starting out.

No fish in a tank is overspaced

I'm with tcarswell, it's called room to grow. I don't like moving fish much beyond fry/juvi stage, I calculate adult size when I put them in most often.

Yep. Besides a months quarantine a majority of my fish grow into their tanks. Not out of them.
