ehiem pro3 - pros ,great filter lots of power and keeps my 9ft spot-on very quite
cons ,very expensive in comparison to other filters

fx5 - pros, another great filter priced relisticly does fantastic job on large tanks
customer sevice second to none
- cons, build quality ,the filter its self is built like a tank ,but the plastic
used seam to fail easy , and pump sometimes does not restart

fluval 2/3/ pros ,easy to use and clean ,fanfastic for small tanks very quite operation
and 4 cons , req cleaning weekly or start to block and become noisey ,plus
limited for media

eheim aqua pros , quite long period before starts to block up ,multi directional out flow
ball internals cons , not as quite as the fluval allternative

juwel internal pros, allmost silent ,very easy operation ,multi directional output,
compact h heater sits in filter housing for more efficiant heat distribution

cons , takes up a lot of space inside the tank

brucki if you get chance put up a pic of your homemade filter system , ive seen pics of this and think its a great idea , thinking of converting some of mine the same , as brucki says very simple and should last a long time
