Since this is my first post, Hello everybody!

The question at hand is what do you this the best way to test your water is? I currently use an API master kit, but I've seen different brands of the liquid testers, individual strips and all in one test strips that apparently you just dip in the water (or something like that - I've never used one) and even some units that claim real time monitoring. So, which is the best and what do you use?

Thanks!

+1 on the API master kit

I dont test my water. Imo if you feel the need to test your not changing enough water.

imo as a fish keeper hobbyist i feel it irresponsible not to test water.. however i think once you get used to your tank your fine not to test, i haven't added any new first or switched any food and have a stable tank so i don't test because i so everything the same way all the time.

another +1 for the API master kit, and I test my water about every other week mostly to make sure the nitrate levels are accecptable. If they're creeping up then I'll raise the amount of water I change out, when they're super low I back off a little bit.

API .. once my tanks are cycled and the stocking consistant i test once a month or so... imo every fishkeeper needs to own a test kit... usually i also will get a free test done if i get an odd reading on my kit to test against... tests can go bad. knock on wood it doesnt happen often but it can happen.

Thanks guys. It seems I will stick with what I know. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything newer or better out now. I haven't done this in a while!
