Picked up an 80g tank that was CAKED with hard water deposits. Previous owner didn't keep it filled, or cleaned. Infact, I've gotten some off, but the algae stuck to the front of the tank was actually harder to clean... What does everyone use to clean this junk off with?

When the deposits are dry , a clean sharp blade.

Car cleaner wax. You'll be blown away. I used a car polisher cuz my tank is a 210 but you could probably do it by hand. Car cleaner wax is abrasive but won't scratch your glass.

Any particular brand? Sounds like a good trick

I used vinegar on my tank and it left it sparkling just like new. I am fairly new to aquariums but turtle wax seems like it would make for some extra work, you would have to really make sure its rinsed out; where as vinegar you just wipe with a towel and leave it soak then rinse away...

White vinegar.
