What does spotting mean?...

I think my female pup is starting to show spots underneath her disc. I have seen others mention this on other posts, but what does it mean? Is it something they all get or just some? Here are a few pics I took of her today when I noticed the spots while she was playing in bubbles.:

Many black rays will have spotting on their underside; bd, henlei, p14. Spotting doesn't have any particular meaning but many people like the look.

Most bds have awsome belly spots. Look fantastic when they climb the glass. It will get loads better with age.
