I saw a lot of post with these words in it, I'm just curious what does it really mean? is it bad or good?

the simple way of putting it is:
stable = gold with solid, prominent black bars
unstable = washed out color.

can a baby Indo Dat started out unstable and possibly end up with a stable coloration when they reach maturity?
yes they can go in and out of stability depending on their environment etc. i dont know about it being good or bad but as long as they are eating i think they are fine. then again im a newbie dat owner
stability isnt permanent. it changes non stop in most cases. your baby dats should become stable as it reaches maturity as long as you keep the water conditions good and the appropriate tank mates as well as providing proper foods. you can say a stable dat is a healthy dat.PufferFreak88;3845129; said:

you just have to find the right dats. I think when dats are stable, they are confident. yellow and black. an unstable dat has to have a good personality.
