I'm sure the show pays for the trips ... and then cuts him a paycheck. I don't think he has to pay for anything out of pocket.

i wonder where he got money for his travels before the show. apparatley he had lots of advantures before the TV show
Im currently reading his book. It goes over how he had some money struggles before the show. He was a journalist and a traveling teacher before he started making fishing shows.

that's correct, i read the book. he basically abandoned teaching to start fishing, was broke but traveled and fished where ever he could. he's been traveling and fishing for 30 years. not like you need a study income to live in some of these villages
