By the Beach!
In a couple of months (probably more like 6) I'm going to be upgrading to a 180g tank!! I currently have a juvenile South American Lungfish so he'll be needing a bigger tank. Since I'm upgrading him I though he should get some new tank mates. As some have seen on this forum I do love Earth Eaters so which species should I get?

Here is the plan so far, 6'x2'x2' (180g), 2xEheim 2078, and sand drift wood for the substrate.
Tank mates:
1 SAL
1 L18
1 L200
1 Black Ghost Knife
1 Leopard Ctenopoma
1 Delhezi Bichir (not sure on this one)

Since they will be with some bigger tank mates I am looking for bigger Earth Eaters so probably some Geophagus or Satanoperca. Any suggestions would be great!

Btw SAL are peaceful unlike African Lungs.

geophagus jurupari or geophagus surinamensis they both get Big.

Yeah, S. jurupari or leucosticta would be good. Get a group, 5+.

Altifrons or proximus I would think, both get 12" SL.

I'd suggest altifrons and leucosticta - they both get fairly large and are a nice contrast. Maybe 4-5 each?

They also occupy different regions in my 220 - Geos usually stay near the bottom but Satanopercas hang out in the top 1/3 (they do sift sand a lot but seem more willing to come up).

This is interesting and good to know!!! I was wonder what to do with the open space at the top of the aquarium, seeing all of the fish I have are more benethic.

Keep the suggestions coming and thanks to all so far!:headbang2

I don't know if they like to stay up...probably just don't mind as much.

See....
