what elephant ear plant is this? is it aquatic?

im attaching a picture of a elephant ear plant, im not sure what species it is, but im also wondering if itll be ok to be in my pond? i know some species you cant keep in water but some you can...anybody got experience with this kind of plant?

Not sure if totally aqatic, but they love water. I had mine in a large pot filled w/80% compost and 20% potting soil. I watered it w/2gals. everyday. It got to be about 4-5 feet tall with an equal spread in about 3 months.

If putting it in the pond, maybe acclimate it slowly in very shallow water and increasing the depth gradually.
 
The local zoo has a pound with them in it, they are up on stands or whatever so the surface of the pot they are in are barely underwater, and they are very healthy!
 
also does anybody know if its poisonous to fish? i heard on some sites that its toxic....

Not sure, but its not to humans lol. My dad eats the roots of these, and actually grows them from the root they sell to eat.
