Since we all have the same basic interests in piranhas, I'm curious about what else you guys keep? Might help find something I like but didn't even know yet

Fish? Or pets?

Atm I only have rbp, rhom, crawfish, ghosties for cleanup. I mean there's so many piranhas, it'd take me a lifetime to collect them all, I don't think ill ever be bored with them, ive had various fw fish in the past, most of which were boring and or predictable.

I always thought there were only a couple of different piranha but I live in Louisiana where they are illegal so I try not to pay too much attention to the piranha section lol.

Personally, piranha is the only fw fish i like that i can keep. If i had the $$ and space, id be keeping aros, payara (scombs and armatus) and id really like to try out ATF's. but for the time being i'll stick with piranhas. Now, besides fw fish, ive recently gotten very interested in planted tanks and just started a nano SW tank.

It ain't bad being stuck with p's, Atleast I'm not bored yet!

Nah sw hasn't been a go atm, I've been thinking about a nano but I've heard small setups are tricky. Id rather buy a 75 elong setup then a sw tank.... Seems a little less complicated lol.

I've heard small set ups are tricky too but lately I've seen a bunch of threads from people who set up 10s or smaller salt tanks with no problems transitioning. Could be the rumor is greatly exaggerated?

Its tricky because people dont understand bioloads and water volume. From what ive learned, just take the cycling process very slow, use lots of liverock and sand, slowly add the bioload as each addition will give a small hiccup in the BB and water params. So dont over feed, slowly add life, keep a close eye on water evap (smaller tanks salinity swings harsher because of water volume. One gallon of evap in a 210 gallon tank is neligible and 1/2 gallon evap in a 5.5 can be a tank crash.) and its harder to pile equipment onto the tank, light options are harder to come by.
