just a general question I wanted to put out there, regarding discus food requirements and conditioning.

What else have you found that your discus eat ? outside the norm , i,e; beefheart, bloodworms, discus pellets( seem to be too small to interest them)

I broke up some massivore that they ate, as well as some diced up crayfish tails.

I don't feed my wilds beefheart. too messy but it's great for young fish. besides bloodworms, my fish get prime reef flakes, frozen brine shrimp, brine shrimp flakes, sera's discus granules, and thier favorite, freeze dried blackworms. the blackworms are expensive, but it's about 80% protien and I have yet to hear anyone say thier discus refuse to eat them.

Beefheart, bloodworms, Hikari pellets, mysis shrimp, and freeze-dried blackworms here. They may not take the frozen mysis until they get a bit bigger, and you have to rinse the oils off of it before feeding. I use the Piscine Energetics brand.

Thank you both, just looking for variety, as their bodies are larger than my palm. feeding adult sized fish becomes challenging as the smaller pellets and flakes marketed for Discus don't interest them

Getting ready to condition the pairs as I move them into the breeding tanks..:headbang2

the only flakes my wilds will eat is prime reef. I just started using brineshrimp flakes mixed with frozen brineshrimp and so far the are eating. my fish refuse mysis.

With patience you can have them eat basically anything edible you throw in the tank. Goes for both wilds and domestics.
