Hello. So I finally talked my parents into allowing me to get a 120g. The tank's dimensions will most likely be 48'X24'X24'. These are the things I need recommendations for:

Filter - FX5? Also where is a good place to buy it for the cheapest?
Filter media - if I get the FX5 what exactly do I put into it? And where do I buy?
Heaters - Aqueon Pro Heater but how many watts?
Substrate - Sand or gravel?
Decorations - Driftwood? Where to buy?
Stock - ? Recommendations appreciated. I like sharks such as the ID shark if that helps

I can't think of anything else to add so any recommendations are great appreciated. Especially where to buy these things for the best price. Thanks

You've got a pretty good base idea. I would go with sand. I use a Top Fin air pump and it works fine. Good luck!

Filter - FX5...Amazon has them for the cheapest (around $200 with shipping)
Filter media - The FX5 should already come with filter media, but I'm not sure as I haven't purchased one yet
Heaters - I heard eheim jagers are good, 250w or 300w will work for a 120g
Substrate - I'd go with sand but thats just my opinion
Decorations - Driftwood and large rocks. Your local pet/fish store may have some or if you live near a beach, lake, or river you may be able to find some
Stock - 4 Line Pimelodella Catfish - they're awesome...maybe a couple of oscars? Could even go with an african cichlid tank and get some synodontis multipunctatus or synodontis petricola.

Thanks. Will a 250 watt heater be enough even for the winter months? I was thinking i would need two heaters. Also I just checked amazon and their price for the FX5 was $259.95 with free shipping.

1 250w heater should be enough even for the winter months, unless your tank is out in the garage then it might not be. & your right, sorry about that, usually amazon does have the cheapest FX5s but I guess someone bought all the cheapest ones. I guess you'll have to buy one from thatpetplace.

Oh alright. I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't be too much for the heater and I didn't want it to malfunction. And yea I saw the fx5 on amazon about a week or two ago for a lot cheaper than it is now. It's sucks for me haha. But $228 from thatpetplace is still a good deal.
