OK, I need a lil advice. Im considering upgrading to a 220g. The wife doesnt know and will throw a massive fit if I just bring it home plus the $$$ that will be missing from the account. So, what excuses have you used in order to get them to atleast get a semi nod of approval. going from 90g to 220g 4' to 6'.
Lets hear 'em!!

Does she like or at least appreciate your fish? If so, you could try to leverage sympathy. Like, "Look at them! They're not happy in there and they're growing. They need the extra space to move around and be healthy! I don't want to be inhumane, honey, do you?"

this guy has the right of it

Hmm, I don't ask for permission. My wife doesn't need to ask me either as long as our purchases are not detrimental financially, spiritually, etc. At 36 years old my days of asking if I can buy something I want are long over. That is how I ended up with two tanks in the living room one in the entry one in our room, one in my studio, and one in a hallway. She does the reverse with antique sewing machines etc. I want her to have want she wants even if I have to load it, set it up, repair it, etc. She wants the same for me. Like I tell her when she wants something, "get it we'll figure it out when we get home" and we always do.

I agree....Actually, I'm gonna use this one on my expansion problem...hahaha...I supported him when he wanted to upgrade his bike...And he spent 12,000 on the new bike, at most I'd be spending 2 on the new tank. lol. (Ironically, Sbuse has been telling me this same thing for like 6 months now, and its taken me til now to see his point...lol)

I really dont need to ask and she doesnt really have to ask me. However, I do respect her and what she has done with our house in regards to decorating and designing. I want to make sure that my desire to upgrade will fit into her decorating. She has put her life into designing our home and making it what she wants and that is important to me. So, do I want the tank, yeah. Can I afford it, yeah. Do I want to respect her home and what shes done with it, yeah. But, I am gonna get it......and it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission. SCREW IT!!! Im gettin it!
